The Golden Compass.

4 out of 5 stars.

So I finally got to watch The Golden Compass. When it came out I was right smack dab in the middle of Biggest Loser stuff, so it just never happened for us to see this in the theatre.

I am glad I got to see it, I can totally see why the religious right had such a huge issue with it. Other than the fact that a reputed atheist wrote it and has admitted it was geared towards knocking the church down a few notches. It was very good. The worst part of the movie was keeping track of names and who’s who and what’s what.

You really don’t get to learn as much about the characters as I’d prefer in the first movie of a trilogy. I really enjoy the first of a series cause typically they go into alot of depth with the characters, in this flick that did not really happen.  Maybe they go the route of Harry Potter and just let you in little by little…but the difference is Harry Potter is seven movies, and the author has already said this will only be three. So when will he go into more detail on the people within the story? This is the main reason I knocked the stars down to four. This movie is solid as far as everything else goes, and is kind of a who’s who among top actors.

I look forward to the remaining installments of the series.
